Dhakeri-Bange Syndrome in Goats: A Clinical-laboratory Investigation

An outbreak of syndrome unknown etiology associated with the feeding moldy dry forage and green fodder among goats in Dhakeri village Banke District on October-November 2008. Goats suddenly became ill symptoms knuckling fetlocks pelvic limbs, no apparent ataxia or flexor weakness. Weight bearing was possible while digits were extended, but knuckling, weight supported dorsal surface foot. The more severely affected paraplegic recumbent. Anorexia, apathy, diarrhea ruminal stasis, flaccid posterior paralysis, hindlegs stretched forward both side abdomin, paralysis all four legs, head bented to sides, aimlessly rear shaking .On clinical examination based history these provisionally diagnosed as Dhakeri-Bange being called locally Endemic Mycotic polyneuropathy seen first time Nepal due forage/fodder poisoning natural pasture treated Antidegnala liquor. On mycological microbiological tissue samples from post-mortem dead goat stalls respective medium revealed growth fungal pathogens like Aspergillus Penicillium spp E. coli. These results provide circumstantial evidence that forages leaves infected by may cause outbreaks a systemic Mycosis goats.
